What is TechOnline Disaster Recovery?

The TechOnline Disaster Recovery service utilises the world's leading hard disk imaging software (Acronis True Image) to regularly take a complete copy of everything on a computer’s hard drive (operating system, applications and data).

The hard drive image is stored on a portable hard drive connected to the server, and this portable hard drive is rotated monthly with a second one that is stored remotely.

Why is it So Quick to Recover with TechOnline Disaster Recovery?

If you have to replace a hard drive, or setup a replacement server, it is simply a matter of restoring the most recent available image from the portable hard drive. This will take 30 to 45 minutes, and the server will be back in operation. It is then only a matter of doing some testing and using the TechOnline Backup service to restore any recent files.

Without TechOnline Disaster Recovery you will need to:

• carry out initial installation and setup of the Windows operating system. You may have to source a copy of Windows if you do not have the original Windows install CD.
• configure Windows Server operating system for your network. This includes setting up all of the users on the system.
• re-establish each computer connected to the network as part of the server domain.
• reinstall all of the applications previously running on the server. It can get very complicated when you need special license keys,or you have to re-register the software.
• use your TechOnline Backup service to restore important files.

• Supply, install and setup the disk imaging software.
• Create a hard disk image and store the image files on a portable hard drive.
• Maintain an up-to-date hard disk image on a daily basis.

NOTES:

1. There is a requirement for 2 x 200 GB portable hard drives, which are not included in the quoted pricing. TechOnline will advise on suitable portable hard drives and also provide assistance with sourcing if required.
2. The safe off-site storage of the portable hard drive is the subscribers responsibility. TechOnline can provide a quote to provide off-site storage if required.
