What is TechOnline Disaster Recovery?

The TechOnline Disaster Recovery service utilises the world's leading hard disk imaging software (Acronis True Image) to regularly take a complete copy of everything on a computer’s hard drive (operating system, applications and data).

The hard drive image can be stored directly to a portable hard drive or archived onto DVDs for remote storage.

Why is it So Quick to Recover with TechOnline Disaster Recovery?

If you have to replace a hard drive, or setup a replacement computer, it is simply a matter of restoring the most recent available hard drive image from DVDs or portable hard drive. This will take 20 to 40 minutes, and the computer will be back in operation. It is then only a matter of using the TechOnline Backup service to restore any recent files.

Without TechOnline Disaster Recovery you will need to:

• initial installation and setup of the Windows operating system. You will have to buy a copy of Wiondows if you do not have the original Windows install CD.
• for laptops - locate and install all of the latest utilities (power management, hot key utility, etc.) for your particular make and model laptop (every one is different).
• for laptops & desktops - locate and install all of the latest drivers (network, wireless, graphics, sound, etc.).
• reinstall all of the applications previously used on the computer. It can get very complicated when you need special license keys,or you have to re-register the software.
• use your TechOnline Backup service to restore important files.

Pricing

The service provided by TechOnline covers:

• Supply, install and setup the disk imaging software
• Create a hard disk image and store the image files on a portable hard drive OR on the computer ready for burning to DVDs
• Maintain an up-to-date hard disk image on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

NOTES:

1. Provision of a portable hard drive is not included in the service, although TechOnline can advise on what is suitable and also assist with sourcing a portable hard drive if required.
2. Archiving (burning) the image files to DVD is the subscribers responsibility, although TechOnline can assist.
3. The safe off-site storage of portable hard drives and/or the DVDs is the subscribers responsibility. TechOnline can provide a quote to provide off-site storage if required.
